Anchored in Cape Town since 1991, MAKO Marine Africa was founded by Mark Louw — a man who didn’t just ride the waves, he raced them. Mark claimed both the South African Championship and the title in the Trans Agulhas (the world’s toughest inflatable boat race) in ’91 and ’92 — proving early on that calm seas never made skilled racers.
Those high-octane beginnings sparked a relentless pursuit of innovation, quality, and performance — the same qualities that now define every MAKO vessel.
Today, MAKO Marine specialises in crafting bespoke commercial, naval, and security patrol boats purpose-built for African waters. Each one is engineered with precision and toughness, using only the finest internationally sourced materials — because when you’re out at sea, second-best doesn’t cut it.
